Quality Engineer

Job Description
The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting the management of the overall quality system.  This person is responsible for three main areas: ensuring ISO 9001 compliance, internal testing, and supplier quality assurance.

 

Position Type: Full Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday
Reports To: Director of Quality

 

 

Duties:

  • Helps maintain quality system in order to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2008 standard
  • Performs internal audits on all processes and departments.
  • Ensures all calibrations are up to date and maintains calibration records.
  • Performs internal testing
  • Works with Purchasing department to establish quality requirements for external suppliers.
  • Leads new supplier evaluations and audits.
  • Performs regular quality system audits at supplier facilities (some travel required)
  • Works with the engineering department to establish incoming inspection drawings and control plans
  • Works with engineering for managing internal control plans
  • Works with engineering to develop and validate procedures to improve our processes.
  • Work with engineering to resolve any manufacturing issues
  • Actively participate in corrective action / continual improvement activities
  • Participates in an annual review of controlled documents
  • Work with team leads and engineering to update and create internal processes

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Production quality experience, 2-3 years minimum.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 requirements and implementation.
  • College degree with an emphasis on Quality Assurance, Business Management, Statistics, or Engineering or equivalent experience

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Trained internal auditor for ISO 9001 or similar system
  • Certified lead auditor in ISO 9001:2008
  • Supplier Quality Assurance experience
  • Experience with corrective action / continual improvement
  • Ability to read and articulate engineering prints
  • Experience with calibrated equipment

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties for this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk or listen. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 lbs
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, difference between color variations, and the ability to adjust focus.

Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

We’re looking for an individual  who is a problem solver and is willing to tackle and follow through on complex and difficult design and manufacturing tasks.  They will have hands-on experience in all phases of design and manufacturing processes, including product/process design validation, pre-production, production and post-production support.  This position will work closely with other engineers, supervisors and team leads to fully support the VP of Operations.

Duties:

  • Design, install, or troubleshoot manufacturing equipment including CNC, or PLC based programmable equipment.
  • Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
  • Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements.
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.

  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Confer with vendors to determine component specifications and assist in the arranging of purchases of equipment, materials, parts, etc. when needed.
  • Assist other departments in support of corporate objectives. This would include product development, providing engineering support for proposal submission(s), generation of product specifications, and/or creating and maintaining various helmet designs.
  • Investigate and/or resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks.
  • Remains current on governmental standards and requirements in the development of helmets.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • BS, Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification preferred.
  • 3 – 5 years of proven hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, experience with composite materials and processing methods preferred.
  • Experience with Solid-Works, GD&T, and CAD for 2D drawings.
  • Familiarity with 3D scanning technologies and the evaluation/manipulation of scans to characterize or reverse engineer products is preferred.
  • Self-motivated and driven.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to coordinate multiple people and tasks.
  • Critical attention to detail.
