As a developer of new head protection designs for the United States Department of Defense (U.S. D.O.D.), ArmorSource has a Research and Development team composed of some of the leading professionals in the field of ballistic head protection. Innovative helmet designs incorporating bullet-resistant safety standards, customized sizing, ergonomic comfort, and technical functionality have been developed and designed by ArmorSource specifically for military and law enforcement operations. The R&D team has an extensive array of testing equipment available, including a state-of-the-art in-house Ballistic Testing Lab.

The Research and Development, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Distribution Departments atArmorSource are fully automated using the latest technologies and operating methods, as required by the ISO-9001 standard.

In addition, ArmorSource is dedicated to not only meeting the standards required for high-quality manufacturing; but has made a commitment, reflected in their mission statement, to develop and manufacture “Advanced Ballistic HeadProtection Products that perform above and beyond stated requirements.” ArmorSource works closely with the U.S. D.O.D. in order to constantly improveproducts and respond to the latest challenges to troops stationed throughout theworld. ArmorSource is a leader in defining, developing, and testing new featuresfor Advanced Head Protection Products, and consistently sets new performance standards, such as MIL, STANAG, NIJ, and PSDB.

Some of the quality control instruments utilized by the R&D Department include:

  • Temperature controller
  • Digital Caliper
  • a fully equipped in-house Ballistic Testing Lab

All ArmorSource helmets are also tested by a third-party, NIJ-accredited laboratory, and meet Berry Amendment Compliant standards.

State-of-the-Art Ballistic Testing Lab


In a continuing effort to improve the quality and safety of head protection products, ArmorSource designed and built an on-site, state-of-the-art Ballistic Testing Lab, enabling convenient and time-sensitive testing for fragment and small arms protection levels. Some of the testing lab features include:

  • Oehler Photoelectric Lumiline Screens
  • Temperature/humidity controlled
  • Air flow system

OTHER TESTING CAPABILITIES & EQUIPMENT
Helmet testing equipment, in addition to the Ballistic Testing Lab, includes physical and mechanical testing equipment and processes that allow ArmorSource to produce optimal performance characteristics, such as high ballistic protection, compression resistance, impact resistance and other safety features.
